  Antonietta Meo's prayers

Mysteries of Joy (monday and saturday)

1. The Angel Gabriel's announcement to the Blessed Virgin

The angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said: "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women". And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her: "fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus…. Then said Mary unto the angel: "how shall this be, seeing I know not a man?". And the angel answered and said unto her: "the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God…for with God nothing shall be impossible". And Mary said: "behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word".

(Lc 1, 26-37)

My dear Virgin Mary I love You so much! My dear Virgin Mary tell Jesus to grant me a favour, to me and to all the world. I'll be very happy that he'll save some souls and that he'll free the whole world and I ask you this with all my heart. (...) My dear Virgin Mary I'm happy to receive Jesus (…) from your hands

LET'S PRAY

Oh God, You who with the Angel's announcement wanted your Word to become man in the Virgin Mary's womb: grant your people, that honours Her as the true Mother of God, to always have her intercession with You.

2. The Virgin Mary's visit to her cousin Elisabeth

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; and entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: and she spake out with a loud voice, and said: "blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? for, lo, as soon as the voice of salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed : for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord". And Mary said: "my soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden".

(Lc 1, 39-48)

My dear Virgin Mary, I love You so much and tell Jesus to forgive me (...). My dear Virgin Mary it's not enough if I only tell you once that I love You, so I'll repeat it I love you so much really very much and always help me with Your Grace (...).

LET'S PRAY

O God, saviour of all the people, You who brought salvation and joy to Elisabeth's house through the blessed Virgin Mary, ark of the new alliance, let also us, mild to the Holy Spirit, bring Christ to our brothers and magnify Your name with hymns of praise and with the holiness of life.

3. Jesus' birth in Bethlehem

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: when as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together she found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying: "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins". Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying: Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

(Mt 1, 18-24)

Oh Jesus!...You who suffered so much for us but I want to make up for all these sins that people commit against You. Oh Jesus !..You who were born in a manger in Bethlehem and who suffered so much in that straw I want to do everything possible to make up for such pain. You were so cold but only an ox and a donkey did everything possible to warm You. Dear Jesus, You who came down from the stars to this earth to save us and regain heaven for us.

LET'S PRAY

O God, You who sent Your son, word and bread of life, from heaven unto the Holy Mary's womb; make us, following Mary's example, accept your Word made man, in the inner listening of the Scriptures and in the stronger and stronger participation to the mysteries of salvation.

4. Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

And when the days of the purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord…as it is written in the law of the Lord.

And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon;…the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said:

"Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; a light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel".

And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

(Lc 2, 22-33)

Dear baby Jesus, I love You so much and I hope Christmas arrives soon so I can receive You in my heart and I'll prepare I nice little crib for You, very soft, dear Jesus, so You can rest well in it (...).

LET'S PRAY

O Father, let the Virgin Church shine forever, spouse of Christ, for the uncontaminated loyalty to the pact of Your love; and following Mary's example, Your humble servant, who presented the Author of the new law in the Temple, let the Church preserve the purity of faith, nourish the passion of charity, revive hope in the good things of the future.

5. Loss and finding of Jesus in the Temple

Now his parents [of Jesus] went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not; they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him: " Son, why hast thou dealt with us? Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them: "How it is that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?". And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

(Lc 2, 41-50)

Dear Jesus I love You so much, really very much Jesus, and I want to be Your lamp and Your lily, the lily that represents the purity of the soul, and the lamp that represents the flame of love that never leaves You.

LET'S PRAY

O God, that with the Holy Family gave us a real model of life, let us walk through the various events of the world, always oriented towards the eternal good things, by intercession of Your Son Jesus of the Mother Virgin and of Saint Joseph.
