Canonization route
In 1941 the AC (Azione Cattolica) Gioventų Femminile (Female Youth) promoted Nennolina's beatification process, due to the clear will of Armida Barelli's, National President, at that time.
The beatification process, which began in 1942, ends the diocesan stage in 1972. But perplexities in the examiners of her case and difficulties in the development of the process arose due to Nennolina's childish age, which is at the limit of the one considered age of reason; although no canonical law establishes the limits of age of the ones for whom a beatification process can begin. Only in 1981, thanks to the Declaration of the Sacred Congregation of the saints' causes, the Church entirely acknowledged that also children can make heroic acts of faith, hope and charity so that they can be raised to the honour of the altars.
Antonietta Meo received the gift of living her vocation loyally. A gift she answered to with a reception and loyalty typical of her age.
With her existence she underlined a new kind of holiness in the history of the Church, possible at every age. A holiness recognized first by the people of God, and then by the official Church.
At the moment all is in the hands of the Sacred Congregation of the saints' causes.
